2011 year end celebrates our 5th year as a Charitable Foundation and we have many reasons to celebrate. It was however a very challenging economic climate for your foundation, the financial services business, and philanthropy, but our resolve remains strong thanks to a very passionate and dedicated membership and new development opportunities continue to grow among our many supporting yacht clubs, major corporations, schools, and new partner charitable organizations.
Most important than ever to remember -as we celebrate the end of our 5th season- is the key for our continued growth and development comes down to your personal financial and volunteer support. Your direct contribution and renewed commitment with your other patron members, benefactors- our many invaluable volunteers- and America’s Cup veteran yachtsmen are the reason we are here and have created more significant and exciting program opportunities than ever with our America’s Cup Class yachts. Some 2011 highlights of your contributions include:
New retroactive IRS Charitable Distinction of l2mYDF as a 501c3 Public Charity
Significant “enabled charitable giving” and support to more than 50 local and national charities with our America’s Cup Class l2m yachts through live auctions and signature events now reaching [$600,000+]
Significant growth in our America’s Cup Class match race programs at all levels, including a new annual Freedom Tower Cup with Lane Office Worldwide, TPG & Silverstein Properties in New York City; a new annual Connecticut Hedge Fund I2m Challenge Cup at Indian Harbor Yacht Club, and our 3rd Annual Greenwich Concours d’ Elegance l2m Challenge Cup
Educational and recreational programs with Greenwich / BSA > establishing Venture Crew l2 as a new signature sailing program in their 100th Anniversary- soon to become a landmark new initiative in Scouting.
Were launching a new series of America’s Cup Executive Summits in partnership with new patron Global Executive Events which will take corporate meetings to the next level with an ultimate combination of luxury, the off shore adventure of 12m match racing , team building and philanthropy.
Were continuing the development of Interclub “Big Boat” sailing programs with country clubs and yacht clubs throughout the 44 member Junior Sailing Association of Long Island Sound.
Establishing new patron member benefits including more cost efficient access to business jet aircraft with [UJET] Universal Jet Aviation who is a new Preferred Patron Services Partner & Sponsor
Ongoing acquisition, restoration, and preservation of our America’s Cup Class l2m Yachts.
Expansion of our dock and repair facilities here in Greenwich harbor where we now manage and control 400 feet of dock with additional overflow options with the adjacent Delamar Hotel docks thanks to patrons - the Delamar Hotel and General Reinsurance / Berkshire Hathaway
Please be generous in your “personal financial and volunteer support” for our all important 5th year end > ANNUAL APPEAL! We ask that you renew and consider enlarging your personal commitment and donate at whatever financial level you can right now! Patron and benefactor giving opportunities this year range from year end annual donations to reduce your 2011 tax liability; “in-kind” contributions of boats, stock, marine art, to grants, designated gifts, cash donations, and those $50,000.00 > $250,000.00 can be designated as “Matching Donations”!
If you prefer to discuss a special matching or anonymous donation to reduce your annual IRS tax liability, please call us now so you can plan to deliver -and we can plan to receive - your Tax Exempt check or wire transfer to l2mYDF at the address below by December 31st 2011. We will then promptly provide you and your tax advisor, a Tax Exemption Certificate for your 2011 Tax Preparation.
