The 2012 Extreme Sailing Series will kick off in the Sultanate Oman in Muscat on the southeast coast of the Arabian Peninsula, stark beauty and vastly contrasting landscapes typify Oman: arid desert, secret oases, awe-inspiring mountains and a lush shoreline.
Act 2 - Qingdao, China
17th-20th April
In 2011 Qingdao provided the Extreme 40 fleet with some high octane drama on Fushan Bay, Qingdao, as strong winds hit the fleet resulting in 4 capsizes featured on news channels around the world...
Act 3 - Istanbul, Turkey
7th - 10th June
In this cosmopolitan and bustling city where east meets west, the Extreme 40s will return to race on the Golden Horn for a second time following their debut in 2011, the race area provides the perfect natural amphitheatre for international spectators to watch the racing.
Act 4 - Porto, Portugal
5th - 8th July
A new country and a new venue on the 2012 circuit as Porto in Portugal hosts Act 4.
Act 5 - Cardiff, UK
30th August - 2nd September
The UK round now in its sixth year will be staged in Cardiff, the capital of Wales.
Act 6 - Trapani, Italy
13th - 16th September
This venue is a favourite among previous Extreme Sailing Series competitiors, and 2012 will be the third consecutive year that the Extreme 40 fleet has raced in this stunning location.
Act 7 - Nice, France
18th - 21st October
The Extreme Sailing Series will be heading back to Nice on the French riviera for the penultimate Act of the 2012 global circuit.
Act 8 - Brazil
29th November - 2nd December
The Extreme Sailing Series will conclude in Brazil, home of the 2016 Olympics, making its debut in South America for the final Act of 2012
